K&L Animal Rescue upholds the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior in its mission to protect and care for animals. This Code of Ethics guides our daily actions and decision-making, reflecting our core values and commitment to responsible stewardship.

This Code applies to all staff, volunteers, board members, and partners associated with K&L Animal Rescue.

  1. Animal Care and Advocacy:

    • Adhere to all laws regarding animal welfare and the Five Freedoms.

      • FREEDOM FROM HUNGER AND THIRST.

      • FREEDOM FROM DISCOMFORT.

      • FREEDOM FROM PAIN, INJURY OR DISEASE.

      • FREEDOM TO EXPRESS NORMAL BEHAVIOR.

      • FREEDOM FROM FEAR AND DISTRESS.

    • Prioritize the health and well-being of animals in our care, ensuring necessary medical treatments and humane living conditions.

  2. Conduct and Professionalism:

    • Maintain professionalism in all operations.

    • Treat all individuals within and outside the organization with respect and fairness.

    • Avoid conflicts of interest and make decisions in the best interest of the organization and the animals.

  3. Transparency and Accountability:

    • Operate with financial transparency, ensuring that donations and funds are used responsibly.

    • Be accountable for organizational decisions and actions, including the management of resources.

  4. Communication and Confidentiality:

    • Communicate effectively and responsibly, upholding the reputation of K&L Animal Rescue.

    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and speak on behalf of the organization only when authorized.

  5. Community and Environmental Responsibility:

    • Engage in activities that benefit the community and promote environmental sustainability.

    • Collaborate with other organizations and groups to amplify our impact on animal welfare.
